Medieval Weapons - Medieval Armor - Medieval Helmets

Wednesday, May 7

A longtime favorite among the staff here and a huge number of our customers, Samurai Swords have always been great for practicing martial arts, sprucing up household decor, or putting the hurt on mats or watermelons. These swords have been represented in countless movies and television shows and will probably never lose their appeal.

If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed a few new additions to our selection of Samurai Swords. There's thousands of variations and blade types out there ranging from fully functional battle pieces to non-functional decorative pieces; we try to find some middle ground and bring you a great range of select Oriental blades. You can be sure we're continuously working to bring you even more!

Our Masahiro Samurai Swords section has grown a bit with the addition of four of their Historical Replica series blades. All four swords feature the same 1060 carbon steel blade and basic design; however, each features a different tsuka (guard). All of them include a sword bag! Masahiro rates these swords as "fully functional", but the best part is that they are very affordable. If the budget is a concern for you, these Masahiro Samurai Swords are an inexpensive way to get a great looking functional blade; get yours today!

Over the weekend, I took a little time to setup a brand new sound system for the home theater. Once I had it all configured, I need a rousing way to test it out, so I reached for my POTC: At World's End DVD. The movie sounded great, but all the fantastic swashbuckling sword play reminded me that right here at Replica Dungeon, we have a great selection of Pirate Swords based on the POTC series and more!

Pirates have been plying the seas since around the 13th century BC, but perhaps the most well known of the early marauders are from the Middle Ages...Vikings. They pillaged Western Europe, North Africa, and Italy, taking advantage of the lack of any real centralized governments during that era. Next in our popular memory would be the Barbary Pirates, who operated from North Africa and Morocco until the 19th century.

All that being said, perhaps the most popular of the high seas raiders are those who operated in the Caribbean from around 1560 until the early 1700's. Thanks to Disney and the wonderful Pirates of the Caribbean theme park ride and, later, the blockbuster series of POTC movies, just about everyone in modern society associates old-time piracy with the Caribbean.

Our selection of Pirate Swords sample a taste of both the POTC movie series and a few of the other varieties found on the high seas during piracy's heyday. Relive some of the adventure today!
